THIS WEEK'S LEARNING 

English:

This week we will be continuing reading our class text, the Iron Man by Ted Hughes. We will be identifying the features that the author uses in his writing, using modal verbs to give Hogarth some advice, writing a letter to Hogarth and creating story maps of the story so far. In spelling we will be learning spelling strategies and using these to learn our individual spellings as well as the 'sure' sound. In reading we will be learning the different types of questions that you have and understanding retrieval questions.  

Maths:

In maths we will be continuing focusing on Place Value, recognising numbers beyond 1000 to 10,000, counting in steps of 1000, partitioning number and using a number line to 10,000. We will also have a session on how to use Times Tables Rock Stars. 

Big Picture:

We will be starting our Big Picture - Meet the Artist. We will focus on the work of Anthony Gormley. This week will use tin foil and clay to make sculptures. If you do not have these at home you could use play-doh, junk modelling or other materials.

RE:

We will have our second lesson on how Jesus is described in the Bible. This week we will focus on the phrase 'I am the light of the world'.

Science:

In Science we will be classifying animals into sub-groups, initially exploring vertebrates and invertebrates and then the sub-categories for animals.
