This week's story is Peace at last by Jill Murphy. Listen along as Jo reads the story and try some of the activities below.

ACTIVITY 1 - STORY TELLING

Retell the story using the bears and the backgrounds. You could also retell the story using your own teddy bears and props at home.

ACTIVITY 2 - MAKE MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS

Make some musical instruments from house hold objects or junk modelling you have at home. ie a maraca from a bottle filled with rice, pasta or lentils. Drums from saucepans and a wooden spoon, a guiro using a cheese grater and a stick. Be as create as you can!

Use the instruments to make the sounds in the story as you or an adult retells it. ie use a tapping sound for the tick tock clock, the guiro for the snuffling hedgehog. Film your performance or take photos and send them to Jo!

ACTIVITY 3 - MAKE THE BEARS' HOUSE

Make the bears' house using a cereal box and the furniture cut outs. Retell Peace at last or make up your own version of the story. What other rooms in the house might Mr Bear try to sleep in? What sounds might he hear in those rooms?

ACTIVITY 4 - TEDDY BEARS' PICNIC

Have a teddy bears' picnic with all your teddies. Maybe you could make some 'p' foods to share with them!

ACTIVITY 5 - NURSERY RHYME OF THE WEEK

Sing and learn the nursery rhyme of the week. The nursery rhymes this week are all about bears. Do you know any other nursery rhymes or songs about bears? See if you can find a new rhyme or song about a bear and share it with Jo.
