What do the PTFA do?
The PTFA help raise awareness of our role in, and responsibility to, the wider local community. We also fundraise in order to support the school in a variety of different ways, as well as for charity.
We hold a meeting at the start of every half-term. Everyone is welcome and a free crèche is provided. No idea is too big or too small to bring to a meeting.
Events include annual school fairs, cake sales, curry nights, mufti days, comedy evenings, quiz nights, gardening days, a St Richard's community choir, 'Battle of the Bands' evenings etc...
Every parent is automatically a member of the PTFA and expected to make a contribution, no matter how big or small.
This year we are focussing on raising funds for our play equipment. We will be rebranding our Lime Tree Garden with new signage and new toys. Please see the minutes from our recent meeting for more information.
The minutes of the latest meeting held on 22nd January 2025 can be found here
The PTFA, spearheaded by Cath Willingham and Melissa Abrahams ran a very successful fair supported by parents, staff and members of the PTFA. We raised over £2,300 for school funds and a great time was had by all.
TWO new Recycling programmes to help us raise funds:
Terracycle
We are collecting empty fabric conditioner bottles and caps, empty dishwasher tablet bags, empty flexible laundry detergent packaging, empty flexible wipe packaging, used tumble dryer sheets and
empty plastic air freshener containers, cartridge caps and car air fresheners
Empties Please:
We can recycle all your empty printer cartridges
Red collecting boxes for both of these projects are now in position in the playground by the Ashburnham Road and Woodville Road school entrances for you to start putting your empty containers in. There are also cardboard collecting boxes for ink cartridges in the entrance lobby by the school office.
The Senior Leaders at St Richard's organised and ran a very successful fair in conjunction with members of the PTFA. We raised over £3,000 for school funds, including £650 from our online auction organised and run by Mrs Sian Murphy, our Head Teacher.
A great way for the PTFA to raise funds without really doing anything… There are over 3,000 shops and sites on board ready to make a donation, including Amazon, John Lewis, Aviva, The Trainline and Sainsbury's – and it won't cost you a penny extra. Loads of other schools have joined and are making it count.
After you sign up and buy online - from a weekly shop to a holiday – you collect free donations for the PTFA.
