Listen to the stories below and try some activities about the books.

 

Room on the broom by Julia Donaldson. Listen along as Jo reads the story. Join in with the animal noises and the parts that you know!

 

Try some of the activities below! 

 

ACTIVITY 1- WAND AND BROOMSTICK MAKING

Make a magic wand or a broom stick using a stick from the garden. Decorate your wand/broomstick with ribbons, stickers, glitter or any construction items you have at home. Cut out a star and put it on the end of your wand, or find something in the garden you could add such as leaves or a pine cone.

ACTIVITY 2 - FRUIT WAND

Make a wand you can eat! Use the recipe card below or create your own edible wand using other foods. You could even make a cheeky sweet wand using marshmallow or other goodies!!

ACTIVITY 3 - MAGIC SPELLS

Use your wand to make some rhyming magic spells. Use the picture cards to stick into the rhyming book to complete the spells. You could even make a magic brew using different ingredients from the garden or your kitchen!!

ACTIVITY 4 - ROCK CRYSTALS

Have a go at making some delicious sugar rock crystals!

ACTIVITY 5 - MAKE YOUR OWN ICECREAM

The weather is getting warmer so why now try and make your own icecream!

ACTIVITY 6 - SPIDER ART

Make a paper plate spider web. You could use an egg carton or some black card to make a spider to go in it!

Listen to Giraffes can't dance by Guy Parker-Rees. Then try some of the activities below. 

ACTIVITY 1 - PUPPETS

Make some stick puppets and use them to retell the story.

ACTIVITY 2 - PENCIL CONTROL

Draw a path for the jungle animals to help practise pencil control.

ACTIVITY 1 - UNICORN HORN

Make a unicorn horn and pretend to be a unicorn!

ACTIVITY 2 - UNICORN COLOURING

ACTIVITY 3 - UNICORN I SPY

Play unicorn I Spy and see how many of each item you can find.
