This week in Maths we are learning to count backwards from 10, taking away 1 at a time. Watch the Number blocks episode 'Ten Green Bottles' and try some of the activities below.

ACTIVITY 1 - TAKE AWAY GAME
Collect 10 items from around the house, you can use anything you like. Put the 10 objects in a line in front of you. Sing the song 10 green bottles. As you sing the song take away 1 object and put it behind your back!
ACTIVITY 2 - TAKE AWAY 1 SHEET
Complete the take away sheet. Count the number of under the sea creatures and take one away. How many do you have left? Write the answer.
ACTIVITY 3 - HOW MANY?
Count how many of each creature you can see under the sea. Write the number next to each animal, then colour in your picture.
ACTIVITY 4 - SHAPE SONG
Watch the shape song, sing along and learn the names of the 2D shapes!
ACTIVITY 5 - SHAPE HUNT
Go on a shape hunt in your bedroom, house, garden or when you go for a walk. Which shapes did you see? Use the recording sheet to show how many of each shape you found!
ACTIVITY 6 - MAKE A SHAPE PICTURE
Choose from dinosaurs, rockets or an octopus to make a shape picture...or try all 3!! Or you could make the rainbow fish by cutting out different shaped scales! If you'd like an extra challenge you could draw your own shape picture by drawing different shapes! Can you name all the shapes you used to make your picture. Describe your picture to someone and tell them which shapes you used.
