This week in Maths we are looking at doubling numbers to 10. Watch the number blocks episode 'Double Trouble'. Try some of the activities below.
Have a try at making a 'block' graph of your family's favourite animal.
ACTIVITY 1 - DOUBLING POWERPOINT
Have a look at the doubling butterflies power point and then have a go at making your own doubling butterflies below.
ACTIVITY 2 - DOUBLE BUTTERFLIES (PAINTING)
Make double butterflies by painting dots on one side and folding the butterfly in half to 'double' the dots. Start with putting 1 dot on the butterfly. Then try another butterfly with 2 dots, keep going until you have doubled numbers to 6!
ACTIVITY 3 - DOUBLING BUTTERFLIES (COLOURING)
Look at the butterflies. Colour the same number of spots of the other half of the butterfly. How many spots are there altogether?
ACTIVITY 4 - DOUBLING GAME
Play the doubling game on Busy things (pinned to Nursery set up page).
ACTIVITY 5 - BLOCK GRAPH
Use the pictures of the pets (or draw your own) to make a block 'graph'. Use blocks or Lego to show each person's vote. Talk about your 'graph' you made...
Which animal had the most votes?
Which animal had the least votes?
How many votes did the dog get?
How many votes did the dog and the cat get together?
