PHONICS

This week's phoneme is 'n'. Watch Mr Thorne and Geraldine Giraffe as they have fun learning abou the letter 'n'. Try some of the activities all about the phoneme 'n'.

ACTIVITY 1 - WHAT STARTS WITH 'N'?

Go for a hunt around your house to find things that begin with 'n'. How many did you find? You can also use the I spy sheet to spy words beginning with 'n' as well as 's', 'a', 't', 'p' and 'i'. 

ACTIVITY 2 - CVC BOARD GAME

Play the board game to help read cvc words. If reading the whole word is tricky try just saying the first sound in each word.

ACTIVITY 3 - BUSY THINGS GAMES

Try some of the busy things games to practise the first 6 phonemes. Play : Tidy up, Letter box, Sound seek, Write now (all pinned to the Nursery set up page).

 

ACTIVITY 4 - MIRROR TALK

Practise saying 'n' in front of the mirror. Make sure your tongue sits behind your front teeth. See if you can say these 'n' tongue twisters.

 

Nice Nick knows Nancy.

 

Naughty numbats knock nuts.

 

Ned never needs noodles.

 

Nachos and nuggets are nice.
