Maths activities for the week:
This week we are looking at Pattern making, children should be able to copy, continue or create a simple pattern. Children could create a pattern by drawing, painting, using household objects (plates, cups, pasta).
E.g.
Activity 1: Make a linked sequence using only your body. E.g. clap, tap your head x2, stamp and REPEAT.
Activity 2:Using coloured paper, cut out some mosaic squares and use them to make a tile pattern as seen below.
Activity 3: Provide a selection of fruits cut up into chunks and allow children to make their own fruit kebab patterns. Get them to talk about what they have done.
Activity 4: Collect some natural resources, including leaves, sticks, pebbles, daisies etc.. and create different sorts of patterns on the ground. Take some pictures in possible.
Literacy/Phonics activites for the week:
Sounds of the week: ai, ee, igh, oa
Literacy activity: Ask you child to take your lunch order, can they write down everything you would like using their phonics. E.g. I would like... a hotdog with ketchup, some crisps and an ice cream. Encourage children to use phonics so you will see spellings such as 'sum crisps' or 'ighs kreem' this is ok
Have fun!!
Art activities:
This week is MUSIC week! Enjoy a range of different music, dance and expression.
Science activities:
This week we are thinking about the 4 seasons and the weather. Can you name the 4 seasons? Which season are we in right now? and which season comes next? Can you think of all the different kinds of weather we have? Is the weather the same in both England and Africa?
Have a go at some of the activities below:
Activity 1: Try freezing some little toys or beads in ice and then try to rescue them, what could you use to help get them out? Check it out on pinterest here https://www.pinterest.co.uk/search/pins/?q=freezing%20toys%20in%20ice&rs=typed&term_meta[]=freezing%20toys%20in%20ice%7Ctyped
Activity 2: Make a 4 seasons tree picture showing how our seasons affect our outside environment. Talk about how in Autumn the leaves fall off the trees, in Spring the leaves start to regrow and we see the beginnings of new life.
