PHONICS

This week's phonics sound is 't'. Watch Mr Thorne's video and see what he and Geraldine giraffe are up to. Then have a go at some of the phonics activities.

'T' activity sheet

ACTIVITY 1 - WHAT AM I?

Think of an animal or an object starting with T. Describe it to someone in your family. Can they guess what it is?

ACTIVITY 2 - SOUND HUNT/I SPY

Go on a sound hunt or play I Spy around your house, garden or neighbourhood. What can you see that starts with the letter 't'. Was it more or less things than the letter 'a' hunt?

ACTIVITY 3 - MIRROR MIRROR

Practise saying 't' in front of the mirror. Watch how your tongue reaches to the top of your mouth. See if you can say this tongue twister into the mirror without giggling....Tommy tiger tickles a tomato!

Can you make up your own silly 't' sentence and say it into the mirror?

ACTIVITY 4 - WRITING 'T'
Practise writing the letter 't'. Have a go at the 't' activity sheet or try some of our fun ways to write 't'.

  • write t in sand with your finger or a stick
  • write t on paper using crayons, pencils, pens, felt tips...see how many different coloured t's you can write.
  • Write t in the bath with water.
  • Use water to 'paint' the letter t outside on the ground
  • Make the letter t with stones, sticks, leaves
  • Paint the letter t

Be as creative as you can...how many ways did you write/make the letter t?
