Number

Can you guess which number we are learning this week? That's right number 8! Watch the number blocks episode 'eight' and try the activities below!

Time

Talk about the different times of the day: morning, afternoon, night. What activities do you do in the morning? In the afternoon? At night? Do the activity below to help you underestand the different times of the day.

ACTIVITY 1 - NUMBER HUNT

Go on another number hunt but this time you are looking for the number 8. How many times did you see it? Can you find a flower with 8 petals? Can you find a tree with 8 branches? Can you find 8 different shaped stones? Can you do 8 hops along the way?

ACTIVITY 2 - HANDWRITING PRACTISE

Practise writing the number 8 using the handwriting sheet. Alternatively you can practise writing the number 8 in different ways. See this week's phonics section for suggestions on different ways to write!

ACTIVITY 3 - DRAWING

Draw a picture of a spider or an octopus, remember they each have 8 legs. Can you draw an alien or a monster that has 8 legs or 8 arms or 8 eyes?!! You could draw a flower with 8 petals, or a cat with 8 whiskers. Be creative and make an '8' picture! It'll be gr8! hehe :)

ACTIVITY 4 - TIME OF DAY

Use the pictures to sort into the different times of day. If you can't print the pictures get your child to draw different activities they do on different pieces of paper, one with a sun for morning/day time and one with a moon for night time. Talk about the activities the Little Red Hen did. What time of the day was she doing them?
