MATHS

This week in Maths we are learning about the number 10. Also have a go at making some patterns.

Watch the Number blocks episode 'ten' and try some of the activities. There are also some pattern activities to try as well.

ACTIVITY 1 - MAKING 10

Use blocks or objects to make 2 numbers that add to 10. Can you find all the pairs of numbers that add up to 10?

ACTIVITY 2 - ORDERING NUMBERS

Can you cut out and order numbers to 10? Once you have ordered the numbers to 10 see if you can match an amount of objects next to each number. eg put 2 pencils next to number 2. Put 3 stones next to number 3. There are 2 sheets to choose from, 1 with just the number and 1 with the number and visual quantity.

ACTIVITY 3 - WRITING 10

Practise writing 10 using the activity sheet or some of the other fun ways.

  • write 10 in sand with your finger or a stick
  • write 10 on paper using crayons, pencils, pens, felt tips...see how many different coloured 10's you can write.
  • Write 10 in the bath with water.
  • Use water to 'paint' the number 10 outside on the ground
  • Make 10 with stones, sticks, leaves
  • Paint the number 10

Be as creative as you can...how many ways did you write/make the number 10?

ACTIVITY 4 - THREADING

Make a threading pattern. You could use beads or dry pasta onto a string. You can paint or dye the dry pasta different colours to make your pattern.

ACTIVITY 5 - PATTERN SCARF

Colour in the scarves following the pattern colour or make your own colouring pattern on paper. You could colour a chalk pattern outside.

ACTIVITY 6 - MAKE A LEGO PATTERN

Use your lego to make a pattern tower. Use the cards and see if you can make your tower the same. Can you make your own pattern tower. If you don't have lego or coloured blocks you can make a repeating pattern with 2 objects ie pencil, teddy, pencil, teddy.
