This week we are learning all about the number 9 and shapes!

ACTIVITY 1 - MAKE A SQUARE NUMBER
Use Lego or blocks to make the square numbers 4 and 9. What would the next square number be? Number block 4 is 2 blocks high and 2 blocks wide. Number block 9 is 3 blocks high and 3 blocks wide....how many blocks high would the next number block have to be??
ACTIVITY 2 - MAKE THE NUMBER 9
Make the number block number 9. How many 1 blocks does it take? How many different number blocks can make up the number 9? If you take 1 away from 9 how many are left? Have a play with your blocks adding to 9 and taking away.
ACTIVITY 3 - PRACTISE WRITING 9
Practise writing the number 9. You can use the writing sheet ot try some of these fun ways to practise writing.
Be as creative as you can...how many ways did you write/make the number 9?
ACTIVITY 4 - BUILD A CITY OR TOWN USING SHAPES
Build a city or a town out of junk modelling. Draw and cut out different shapes to add to your houses, building and roads. Which shapes did you use? Can you use 9 squares on your city building? Can you use 9 circles to make apples on a tree? Remember to take photos of what you have made!

Play some shape games on Busy Things.
ACTIVITY 6 - SHAPES SONG
Sing the shapes song to learn the names of different 2D shapes.
ACTIVITY 7 - SHAPE HUNT
Go on a shape hunt around your house, garden or neighbourhood. How many different shapes did you find?
ACTIVITY 8 - MAKE A MOUSE
Cut out the shapes to make a Town Mouse or Country Mouse
