This week continue to practise counting to 5. Practise making sets of objects to 5 and how different numbers can be made up of different amounts. eg 4 can be made with 2 and 2, or 1 and 3.

 

 

Also talk about different 2D shapes. Watch the 2D shapes song and play the 2D shapes game.

 

Activity 1: Shape hunt

Go on a shape hunt around your house, garden or when you go for a walk outside. Which shapes did you see? What was the shape called? How many sides did it have?

Activity 2: Shape pattern

Make a shape pattern using the shapes you have made. First try a 2 shape pattern. eg square, circle, square, circle

Challenge: Try a 3 shape pattern. eg square, circle, triangle, square, circle, triangle

Activity 3: Shape drawing

Use the sheet to practise drawing shapes. You could even practise your cutting skills and cut them out.

 

Once you have drawn and cut out the shapes see if you can sort them in 2 groups. Shapes with straight sides and shapes with curved sides. See how many different ways you can sort the shapes.
