The Sports Premium is government funding provided to primary schools in the UK to enhance the provision of physical education (PE) and sport. At St Richard’s, we believe it is every child’s right to receive high-quality learning and teaching in all aspects of the curriculum, and this includes physical education. We recognise that PE is not just about physical activity—it is an essential part of a child’s education that supports physical, mental, and emotional development. Children have a right to be challenged in PE just as they are in any other subject. We use the Sports Premium to enrich our PE curriculum, develop staff expertise, increase opportunities for competitive sport, and ensure that all pupils, regardless of ability, can access engaging and inclusive physical activity.
